A meditation on identifying with Hong Kong and China across borders, appearances, time, and languages.

This project came out of a culmination of research, thoughts, questions, and learnings from my class "Migration, Globalization, and Education." It was inspired by the short film, "Where Are The African Gods?". This is just the beginning for me–of more conversations and exploration of what it means to come from and belong to places and people. I've recently been reminded that storytelling is non-linear; I think the same goes for identity, too. Where do you call home? Where do you feel like you belong?

The footage was pieced together from spaces all over the world, but mainly Chinatown (Manhattan, NY), Hong Kong, China. A huge thank you to my friends who took the time to speak with me, and to my human family who has raised me from Hong Kong to Australia, to Singapore, to Rwanda, and beyond.
